What are the most effective secured credit cards for use in repairing ones credit score?

May 21, 2011 5:00 pm Published by

Question by agape abba: What are the most effective secured credit cards for use in repairing ones credit score?
I understand, by making one minimal purchase of below 10% toward its limit on such a card, paid to zero before billing each month is ideal. Also, I suppose the higher the limit the better. Any experienced advice?

Thank you,
rdc

The number is 30%.
Never go over 30% of your available credit.
Higher limits, better.
Pay for things you need like food and gas, and pay in full each month when the statement comes in.
You will never pay a penny interest and achieve 800+ scores from using credit cards alone. I am proof.
Get 2 credit cards.
Find one that gives you cash back on gas or purchases.

Secured cards to dont affect your scores until you use them well for 6 months.
Do you have a checking account?
Ask them to send you a visa card attached to the checking – easiest to get.

How long after repairing bad credit could you be eligible for a new loan for school/training?

Question by ericfromsouthpark: How long after repairing bad credit could you be eligible for a new loan for school/training?
I have atrocious credit. 2 defaults, various revolving accounts, and numerous collections that have made their way onto the report. I also don’t have a co-sign. For the better part of the last 3 years I had recurring, misdiagnosed conditions that prevented me from working steady.
I want to fly helicopters, but the cost of school is so that it would be faster to pay off debt and get a loan to complete training (leg > commercial pilot), than it would be to save money and pay out of pocket. It’s also maybe the right thing to do. I know items stay on the report for ~7 years, but, even with bad history, if you don’t actually owe anyone anymore I would have a better chance I would assume.
Even if it’s not helicopters, I need to finish school. I have 70 hours and lack 8hours for an associates in aviation science (air traffic control), but I haven’t been able to get a job in the field. So instead of “finishing” school I should say I need to go back and get some other type of training.
one or two classes? where did you study? At Thomas edison state 8 hours is 8 classes, roughly $ 1100 just to register.

I did know about the fafsa already, I couldn’t submit it because of tax information and vet status problems. Working to fix it.

You cannot repair bad credit!
You can only wait seven years for the bad credit to
get erased from your credit report.
The idea of repairing bad credit is making me laugh!

If you only need eight more hours for an associates, that is only one or two classes! Why stop when you are almost done?
You sound a little disoriented.

Adverse Credit Unsecured Loans ? Borrow Smoothly and Repair Credit

Larger numbers of borrowers are reeling under adverse credit in these days of spreading consumerism. At the same time a new loan for such people is always readily available with lenders seeing them as a business opportunity. So, even if you have nothing as valued asset in your name, a loan is still there waiting to be taken. One can say Adverse Credit Unsecured Loans are a new opportunity not only for taking a loan but also to improve your credit score.

When a borrower makes late payments, has arrears in his name or defaulted on payments or has cases of CCJs, he or she is tagged as having adverse credit, indicating that the borrower is risky for lenders. The risks for the lender increase further if unsecured loan is sought. This is because adverse credit unsecured loans involve no property of the borrower as collateral. To minimize risks, the lenders first off all have a deep look at the borrower’s repaying ability. Documents of income and bank statements therefore play crucial role in making up the lender’s mind for the loan approval.

Adverse credit unsecured loan carry higher interest rate. In fact if you can afford to pay interest at higher rate which will go higher as your credit score goes down, then getting unsecured loan with adverse credit usually is no problem. The lender determines the loan amount taking into account your income and ability to repay the loan. Usually adverse credit unsecured loan amount ranges up to £25000. The loan repayment duration ranges from 5 to 15 years.

As far as the sourcing of adverse credit unsecured loans is concerned, well you can find a loan from banks, financial companies or from online lenders. But remember that online lenders have lower rate loan offers for adverse credit people as compared to banks and financial institutions. But instead of rushing, first take rate quotes of online lenders and compare them. You are sure to find a suitable offer for your circumstances. Also note that as you will clear the loan installments in time, your credit score will improve. So, ensure timely repayment.

I’m repairing my credit. How can I monitor my credit score periodically from all 3 credit reporting agencies.

May 6, 2011 5:00 pm Published by

Question by lamontsmith13: I’m repairing my credit. How can I monitor my credit score periodically from all 3 credit reporting agencies.
I’m 33 years old and in the process of rebuilding my credit from my reckless youth. I’ve paid off almost all my outstanding credit card debt and have a few new cards that I’m doing well with but I would like to watch my credit scores rise from all three reporting agencies (Equifax, TransUnion and Experian).

I know the score has gone up some in the last few months and my ultimate goal is home ownership so I would like to monitor them.

I went to myFICO.com but I believe that is a one-time kind of report/score. I’m looking for updated monitoring. Does anyone know of a RELIABLE company that will do this for me?

Thanks.
