How do I go about fixing my credit after filing chapter 7?

Question by marylou6996: How do I go about fixing my credit after filing chapter 7?
I filed chapter 7 back in 2004 and I checked my credit score and it is 645. I am looking to purchase my first home by the end of summer this year and I want to make sure that I am able to get a loan. I have heard that it is hard to get a loan if you have filed chapter 7. Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

Before you start shopping for that home get pre-qualified. Shop around for a lender that will qualify you with the lowest possible interest rate. Your credit score is not hurt by shopping for a home loan as it was in the past. Once you are qualified for a loan you will know how much house you can afford and hopefully you won’t be disappointed when you find that your “dream house” is out of reach.
Look for the cruddiest house on the nicest street. You will get a bargain and by simply cleaning/repairing the from the street view you will build quick cheap equity and your neighbors will love you.
