Increasing Credit score – Two Tips to Raise your Credit Score

Increasing credit scores is somewhat of a mystery if you have no understanding of how credit moves and how it’s affected.  I needed to increase my credit score quickly.  I was applying for new a new job and I needed to make the best impression possible.  Here are two tips I found on a credit manual that helped me increase my credit score.

The first thing I put into use was the option to opt out of the credit bureaus.  I did this, not so much as a increasing credit score tactic but to not have any of my other creditors monitoring my every move.  I learned that creditors subscribe to credit bureaus reports, which give them all your financial activity!  Every time you apply for new credit, change your address, banking information, they get notice of it.  I didn’t want my creditors keeping tabs on my so I opted out.  They even know if you’re disputing any accounts, which many of us do to remove erroneous or bad accounts.  Another reason I opted out was to keep my current credit cards from increasing my interest rate because they felt like it, based on what I was doing.

Second move I did was to distribute my balances around from one account to the other to keep them all below 50% of the total credit limit I had for each individual account.  This helps the model give you a better score.

Third, I asked for a favor.  I know it sounds weird but an increasing credit score technique I picked up was to add you to a family members account.  In my case that was my sister.  She was brave enough to add me as an authorized user.  With that, her good credit accounts became part of my credit history, without making a single payment.  All her years of history, high credit limits and established profile boosted my credit in a way that it would have taken me years to do.  Needless to say I owe her big time.

Those two techniques worked great at increasing my credit score and I didn’t have to worry about what was going to be found on my credit report when I applied for the new jobs.  Now I can start to repay the favor to my sister.  She has two sons and a thing for Vegas.  You know who’s babysitting.
